NEOPLANET ANNOUNCES TECHNOLOGY AGREEMENT WITH COMPAQ, UNVEILS VIASSARYTM SUITE OF PRODUCTS AND SERVICES

TEMPE, Ariz., Aug. 6, 2001- Software solutions provider NeoPlanet, Inc. (www.neoplanet.com) announces today a technology agreement with Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE: CPQ) to provide solutions that deliver intelligent PC technology to the desktop to personalize customers' computing and Internet experience. The first solution to be deployed is the Compaq Advisor, which began shipping on Compaq Presario desktop and notebook PCs July 15.

The Compaq Advisor is a smart application that communicates relevant, timely and targeted messages based on individual customer needs. Messages, delivered in both online and offline environments, notify the user of conditions such as changes within the computer environment, recommend specific actions and share relevant offers to achieve optimal computer performance.
